we are continuing in the bank project... and moving along quite quickly i might add. this makes me nervous because we only have a few more weeks in the semester, which means NO time to finish this project. i have been picking out my FF&E, so wanted to share some of those photos with you, and see what you think.

i plan on using many wall treatments instead of simply paint, and a few floor treatments, including wood floors, stone & carpet tiles.

i want to use carpet tiles in order to create way-finding and cool graphic designs on the floor, but i haven't figured out just how i would like to accomplish that. i am also designing a really fantastic ceiling feature to create emphasis with the magnificent height. stay tuned :)

planning for the perfect work outfit.

i went on a bit of a shopping spree today :/ but don't worry dad, mom said it was okay and i really didn't spend much money at all. i used my skills to hone in on the deals and steals and found the websites that were offering free shipping and discounts.

what was i shopping for you ask? work clothes. i can't wait to start my internship, as you all know, so why not look for work clothes now? below are a few of my finds that i'm so excited to come in the mail in 5-7 business days.

fill in the blank friday.

i'm trying a new blogging idea called fill in the blank friday's. my big sister katie lead me to this blog and i absolutely love the idea of it. so, if you want to join me in this new fun tradition, please do! i think it is a fun way to get to know the people you follow. enjoy ~ and happy friday.

1.   My most prized possession is  my square painting project. it is a 4x4 abstract painting i made with individually painted 1/2inch squares painted solid colors. it was for a project in sophomore studio, and while it was a painful process that had many all-nighters involved... i really enjoy it now.

2.  If I could be one age for the rest of my life, I would want to be  where i am right now - in my 20's, in college, with all of my best friends. sadly, most of my friends have graduated, but if i could bring them all back and spend every day, weekend, & night with them again, i would in a heartbeat.

3.  The best way to spend a weekend is   with the people i love (including my puppy because i count her as a human). i love to spend one day catching up on everything that got piled up throughout the week (like cleaning and excess homework) and then the rest of the time hanging out with friends, or relaxing.

4.  My outlook on life is  you can't change what is going to happen, but you can change the way you react to it.

5.  If you want to annoy me, just  complain about everything, and think that you are the only one going through a hard time. i know SO MANY who are going through harder times than most people have in their lifetime, and they don't complain about anything.... they are so uplifting and strong and it makes me really value my life and realize that you can't take anything for granted.

6.  I am completely defenseless when it comes to sour patch kids :/

7.  When dressing for the day one should   dress in whatever makes you feel good enough to tackle the day. don't dress to follow the rules, dress how you want to!

headboards.

i have wanted a new headboard for a long time ~ and i think those of you who have been following my blog know this. currently, my headboard is a modern paisley outdoor seat cushion i found on the sale shelf at pier 1 for $40. i think it is time for an upgrade. i love all of these bedrooms, mainly for the statement the headboard gives. i can't wait til i have my dream headboard :)

i'm moving to dc the beginning of MAY!

it's official - i got an internship with fox architects in mclean, va - which is a mere 20 minutes from washington d.c. and 15 minutes from my boyfriend's house in arlington, va. i love love LOVE this company and am so excited to intern with them this summer!

fox offers commercial design and designs the core and the interior of buildings. fox architects has done everything from corporate, headquarters, government, legal, non-profit, and academic.

i visited the office when i was visiting bryce for my spring break, and i LOVED it. i loved the energy, the ambiance and everyone who i met that works there. the office had an open layout, and was geared towards teamwork, which i like a lot. i met with the director of the interiors studio at fox architects, who took me around the office and introduced me to people. i met with an auburn grad, who is one of the interior designers at fox, which instantly made me feel at home.

this summer i'll be shadowing many of the interior designers, as well as sitting in on meetings, helping with the resource room, helping with components on revit, drafting up buildings in revit and also, hopefully, learning as much as i can about commercial design!

i am so excited for may 8th to come so i can move to washington d.c. for the summer, have a wonderful internship and a great break from auburn :) hopefully this will give me the energy to finish up the 2 semesters i have left in auburn and get into the corporate workforce!

check back come may about my time spent with fox!

hanover, nh

i love my town. so i thought i would blog a little about where i am from - hanover, nh. it is a teeny little college town nestled in a valley, which is interestingly enough called "the upper valley". hanover is situated on the connecticut river, on the new hampshire/vermont border.
my family moved to hanover when i was just 2 years old. we lived in a small rental house downtown, while my dad designed and built our current home. we have been there for 20 years now, and i still love it! i hope my parents never leave :)

my town has a little more than 8,000 residents and is home to dartmouth college. we have a little downtown area that holds the dartmouth bookstore, a few restaurants, a coffee shop, a vintage clothing shop, the gap and a few more little boutiques. the main street in downtown hanover is fittingly called "main street" where at the top of it is the hanover inn.
if you then pivot 180 degrees from this angle, you will see the dartmouth green and all the buildings surrounding it belong to dartmouth. at the top of the green is the library - called baker library.
i love my town :) one of my friends, ally, who owns the pink alligator in hanover, asked when i'm moving back and i honestly can't answer that. i don't want to move back any time soon because it is way too small and offers me no opportunities right now. maybe once i get a husband and a family?

happy wednesday!
